Education system in Italy


Education system in Italy starts from 1859 when educational responsibilities taken by Legge Casati for Italian state and then in 1861 Italian unification took place. The next important law taken by Legge Gentile, Italian education system in 1923. At that time the compulsory age of education was raised to 14 years, and education was based on ladder system.

From 1962 to the present day the main system of Italian primary and secondary education is remained unchanged. No gaps between male and female and the new system is ‘nuovo ordinamento’. But this new system will be start through bologna process, and Italian education system switched from old system to the new system (old system: vecchio ordinamento, new system: nuovo ordinamento).
